Service Manager (Residential Care)

6 Month Maternity Cover starting 15 September 2017

Full Time – 35 hours per week

Based in Milton, Cambridge

Salary £30,026

The Edmund Trust is a local charity and our mission is to work across Cambridgeshire to provide lifelong opportunities for people with learning disabilities to create the lifestyle they choose and be equal and active members of the community. We want to empower individuals to be in control of their lives and work in partnership with families. We are looking to recruit for a Service Manager to lead our team that supports individuals who live in residential care in three homes based in Milton.  We are seeking to recruit a Service Manager who is inventive, proactive and interested in making a difference.

If you have a minimum of a Diploma Level 3 or a NVQ3 in Health and Social Care and substantial experience of supporting people with learning disabilities, then why not apply for this exciting management opportunity.

You will need to have a clear vision of how a service should be structured and the skills to lead a staff team to deliver a service which values individuals and responds to individual’s needs.

The successful applicant will be required to participate in the On-Call Rota, which attracts an additional payment.

Service Manager (Complex Needs)

We are recruiting for  a Service manager to lead a team who support a young man with learning disabilities who has complex needs.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills, experience of working within a multi disciplinary team, has knowledge of Mental Capacity Act and Dols, and experience of supporting people who can present with behaviours that challenge.

The person we support enjoys an active life, enjoys being outdoors, loves animals, music, going to the cinema, spending time with his family and meeting people. 50% of the manager’s time will be providing direct support. There is also a need to be on call and take part in in call rota, which attracts an additional payment.

Support Worker Positions

We are especially interested in people who have experience in supporting individuals with Autism, Down syndrome and behaviours that may challenge at times.

Full-time (40 hours a week), Part-time (various hours and days available) and Relief posts available. Starting salary £8.34 per hour (unqualified), £9.09 per hour (qualified NVQ2 or equivalent). Locations: Cambridge, Milton, Histon and Ely.

Key Requirements:

  • You have a keen interest in supporting people with a Learning Disability
  • You will be Inventive, Creative, Active and Enthusiastic in your approach
  • Have a sense of humour, be flexible and most of all a positive outlook
  • Be able to work in accordance with Support plans, Risk assessment, and Positive Behaviour Support Plans
  • Show an enthusiasm in supporting individuals in a variety of activities including, swimming, walking, bowling, wall climbing and household tasks.
  • Be able to lone work at times
  • Be keen to support people to reach their full potential and be as independent as they can be
  • Level 2 Diploma/NVQ2/NVQ3 in Health and Social Care (desirable)
  • Experience in supporting individuals with Autism, Down syndrome or present behaviours that challenge, and have a willingness to learn about them.
  • Driving licence (desirable)
  • Basic literacy skills

Creative Art Tutor (based in March)

21 hours per week

Salary £20,708 pa (pro rata)

We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic person to develop, manage and implement a programme of arts, crafts and drama-based activities for people with learning disabilities within a Day Service setting.

You will be responsible for devising and planning a rolling programme of imaginative and stimulating arts, crafts and drama based activities for the people we support.

You would also be teaching them new skills and working directly with the individuals to inspire and assist them to further build on their strengths.

Windmill Hydrotherapy Pool – Lifeguard Positions

Location: Fulbourn, Cambridge (CB21 5DZ)

Vacancy Type: Full-Time/Part-Time (Various Hours and Days available)/Casual Relief

Salary: £9.09 per hour (with PPO Qualification) / £8.45 (No PPO Qualification)

The Windmill Hydrotherapy Pool in Fulbourn, Cambridge is specifically dedicated to people with learning disabilities and physical support needs.

The hydrotherapy pool is designed with physical aids to allow easy access into the water. The Pool offers sessions for everyone ranging from toddlers to the elderly, and individuals who need short term rehabilitation to those with severe disabilities who require regular hydrotherapy sessions.

The successful Lifeguard will:

  • be aged 18+
  • have National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) – we will pay for your NPLQ training
  • have excellent communication skills
  • have a good standard of physical fitness
