Support Workers needed – Milton, Cambridge

Salary – Up to £9.09 per hour
Hours – Full time 40h pw / Part-Time working available

Ref: BO2 Service

I’m a 25 yr old guy living in my own home. I am a very active person, sociable, friendly, caring and a fun person; people tell me I have a lovely smile and a great sense of humour. I like to be involved and in control, I love birds, watching DVD’S and listening to CD’S I like things to be tidy. I love being busy and having things to do – boredom is really hard for me to cope with. I like going for walks, going to the gym, swimming, going rock climbing, bike riding anything that is active and keeps me focused. When I am at home I like it when staff involve me in the different jobs around my house; I like cooking and am willing to learn new things.
Sometimes I get anxious and worried, I do not speak but this does not mean I cannot communicate, I am really good at communicating and use an electronic communicator. To support me well you need to be a GREAT communicator and have some knowledge of signing (or a commitment to learning some basic signs) as I am deaf. I have been living on my own for 5 years and staff support me 24hrs a day. I prefer my staff to be with me for longer days as this means we can go out for the day rather than come home for shift changes.
I am looking to expand on my current support team – you will be outgoing, active and forward thinking, organised and have some great ideas. I need people who are patient as sometimes I just need to take time to think about what you have said or what I am about to do. It’s good to have staff who can recognise that sometimes I just need to have a chill time. I am a bright guy, very interested in people but it takes me time to build up a relationship with you and I can be a little bit cheeky at times. I need people who don’t mind working longer days as this really helps me (just remember the longer the day the more days off in a week you get!) A driver would be great but it’s not the end of the world if you can’t drive as I do have a few drivers in my team.

Benefits Include:

Competitive rates of pay
22 days paid holiday per year plus bank holidays
An opportunity to gain recognised qualifications (incl NVQ’s, Care Certificate)
Cycle to work scheme
Employee Assistance Programme
Career progression opportunities
Company Pension Scheme
Staff referral scheme
Discounted gym membership
