The Edmund Trust are a local charity who provides services to children and adults with a learning disability across Cambridgeshire. This may be in a supported living scheme, residential care or support to live at home by using our domiciliary care team. We also provide respite services for short breaks away from home, as well as emergency respite for times of crisis. We are able to support people with a wide range of needs including complex autism, profound multiple learning disability and as people age, early onset dementia. We provide a home for life if that’s appropriate and in the person’s best interests and their choice. We provide person centred support enabling individuals to choose how they want to live their lives, enabling them to reach their full potential. We support people to achieve their aspirations with outcome focussed support.
Our strength is in being well established, local, and able to respond to the needs of people with a learning disability within their own community. We have an excellent relationship with the local authority, our prime funder, as well as close links with local colleges and specialist education. We are involved in research with the University and are currently part of a project looking at the experiences of people with a learning disability when they go into hospital. The Edmund Trust is committed to improving the opportunities for people with learning disability and actively engages with partners to support new initiatives.
